ショートフィルムの紹介です！コロナで自宅待機の指令が世界中に広まる中、ツイッター等で無料で見れる動画サイトなどの情報がシェアされています。
今回は絵本を元に作られたショートアニメ(約8分)を紹介しますね。動画の「CC」の部分をクリックすると英語字幕も出てきます。
スピードも早すぎず、語彙レベルも英検３～準２級レベルです。英検を持ってる人は、その英語レベルの英語を聞き取れるように練習してみてください。
折角資格を持っていても使えなくてはもったいないですもんね！
このブログでは簡単な訳をつけておくので、解らない部分があれば参考にしてください。
先ずは字幕付きでみて、２回目はディクテーション（聞いて、書きとる）をするのも楽しそうですね。
英語の音に慣れるための練習はとっても大切です。無料で公開してくれている動画は本当にありがたいですね！
日本語訳
Jonathan's mother went to get a can of noodles.
ジョナサンのお母さんはヌードル一缶を買いに出かけました。
She said "Jonathan, please don't make a mess."
「ジョナサン、散らかさないでね」と彼女は言いました。
Jonathan looked at the nice clean rug.and the nice clean walls, and the very very clean sofa.
ジョナサンは綺麗で素敵な絨毯、綺麗で素敵な壁、そしてとてもとても綺麗なソファを見ました。
And said, "Well, there 's certainly no mess here."
そして言いました「全く汚れていないね。」
Then, he heard a sound.
そうすると、音が聞こえました。
It was coming from behind the wall.
その音は壁の向こうから来ていました。
Then the wall slid open and a subway train pulled up and stopped.
そうすると、壁がスライドして開き、地下鉄電車が停車しました。
Then all kinds of people came out of Jonathan's wall, ran around his apartment, and out the front door.
そうすると、沢山の人がジョナサンの壁から出てきて、ジョナサンのマンションを走り回り、玄関から出ていきました。
"Well," said Jonathan. "This certainly is a mess."
「うーん」ジョナサンは言いました「これは完全に散らかってしまったな」
"Jonathan, what a mess!"
「ジョナサン、なんて散らかり様なの！」
"The wall opened up and there was a subway train. Thousands of people came running through."
「壁が開いて地下鉄電車が来たんだ。何千人もの人が走り去っていったんだ」
"Oh John, don't be silly. Clean it up!"
「ジョン、バカな事言わないで。片づけなさい！」
She went out to get another can of noodles, and Jonathan cleaned up.
彼女はヌードルをもう一缶買いに出かけ、ジョナサンは片づけをしました。
When he was all done, he heard a sound, and all kinds of people came out of Jonathan's wall, ran around his apartment, and out the front door.
片づけが全て終わった時、音が聞こえました。沢山の人がジョナサンの壁から出てきて、ジョナサンのマンションを走り回り、そして玄関から出ていきました。
This time, there were ice cream cones and chewing gum on the rug, writing and footprints on the wall, two men sleeping on the sofa, and a policeman watching TV.
今度は、アイスクリームのコーンとチューイングガムが絨毯に落ちていて、落書きと足跡が壁について、2人の男がソファで寝ていて、警察官がテレビを見ていました。
Besides that, the refrigerator was gone. Jonathan got angry and yelled, "Everybody out!"
その上、冷蔵庫が無くなっていました。ジョナサンは怒って怒鳴りました。「全員出ていけ！」
"Jonathan, what have you done?"
「ジョナサン、何をしでかしたの」
Then she heard a noise.
そうすると、音が聞こえました。
And all kinds of people ran around the apartment, and out the front door.
そして沢山の人がマンションを走り回り、玄関から出ていきました。
There were ice cream cones, chewing gum, and pretzel bags on the rug. Writing, footprints, and hand prints on the wall, and five men were sleeping on the sofa.
アイスクリームのコーンとチューイングガムとプレッツェルの袋が絨毯に落ちていて、落書きと足跡と手形が壁について、５人の男がソファで寝ていました。
Besides that, a policeman and a conductor were watching TV.
その上、警察官と車掌がテレビを見ていました。
And the fridge and stove were gone!
そして冷蔵庫とコンロが無くなっていました！
"This is not a subway station, this is my house!"
「ここは地下鉄の駅じゃない、僕の家だ！」
The conductor said, "if the subway stops here, then it's a subway station. you shouldn't build your house in a subway station. If you don't like it, go see city hall."
車掌は言いました「地下鉄がここに止まるなら、それは地下鉄の駅だ。自分の家を地下鉄の駅に立ててはいけないよ。もしそれが嫌なら、市役所に行くことだ」
So, Jonathan went to city hall.
という事で、ジョナサンは市役所に行きました。
When he got there, the lady at the front desk told him to see the subway boss.
市役所に着いた時、フロントデスクの女性が地下鉄のボスに会いに行くようジョナサンにに言いました。
And the subway boss told Jonathan to go see the Mayor.
そして地下鉄のボスは市長に会いに行くようジョナサンに言いました。
The Mayor said, "If the subway stops there, then it's a subway station. Why, you shouldn't build your house in a subway station. Our computer says it's a subway station, and our computer is never wrong."
市長は言いました「地下鉄がそこに止まるなら、それは地下鉄の駅だ。なんとまぁ、自分の家を地下鉄の駅に立ててはいけないよ。我々のコンピュータがそこは地下鉄の駅だと言うのだ。そして我々のコンピューターは決して間違えを出さない」
Then he ran out for lunch, and Jonathan was all by himself at city hall.
そうすると、彼はランチに走り去りました。ジョナサンは市役所で一人きりでした。
Jonathan started to leave, but on his way out he heard a sound.
ジョナサンもその場を離れだしました、しかし途中で音が聞こえました。
Someone was crying.
誰かが叫んでいました。
"Oh, I'm hungry."
「お腹空いたよー」
Jonathan listened very carefully. He walked up and and down the hall, and found the room it was coming from.
ジョナサンは耳をこらして聞きました。彼は市役所を上がったり下がったりして、音が聞こえてくる部屋を見つけました。
He went in, and there was a big enormous shinning computer machine.
ジョナサンが部屋に入ると、大きくて巨大なピカピカ光るコンピューターマシンがありました。
A voice was coming from behind it.
声はその後ろから聞こえてきました。
Jonathan squeezed in back of the machine, and saw a little old man, at a very messy desk.
ジョナサンがマシンの後ろに体を滑り込ませると、小さな年いった男がとても散らかった机の所に見えました。
"Do you have any blackberry jam?"
「ブラックベリージャム持ってる？」
"No," said Jonathan, "But I could get you some."
「持ってない」ジョナサンは言いました「でも買ってきてあげられるよ」
"Who are you?"
「あなたは誰？」
"I'm the computer" Now, Jonathan was no dummy.
「私はコンピューターだよ」でも、ジョナサンはバカではありません。
He said, "Computers are machines, and you are not a machine."
彼は言いました「コンピューターは機械だよ。そしてあなたは機械ではない」
"That darn thing never did work. I do everything for the whole city."
「あのポンコツは全然動かない。この街全てのために私が全てを行っている」
"Oh," said Jonathan, "I'll get you some blackberry jam if you'll do me a favor. A subway station is in my house at 980 Yong street. Please change it."
「おぉ」ジョナサンは言いました。「もしお願いを聞いてくれるならブラックベリージャムを買ってくるよ。地下鉄の駅がヤン通りの980番の僕の家にあるんだ。変えてもらえませんか」
"Certainly," said the old man.
「いいとも」年いった男は言いました。
Jonathan ran all the way to a jam store.
ジョナサンはジャム屋さんへ走って行きました。
He got four cases of jam, and carried the jam back behind the computer.
ジョナサンはジャムを4ケース買って、コンピューターの後ろへ運びました。
"Now," said the old man, "Where am i going to put this subway station?"
「さて」年いった男は言いました。「この地下鉄の駅を何処に置こうか」
"I know," said Jonathan, and he whispered in the old man's ear, then he left, but the old man yelled after him, "Don't tell anyone the computer is broken. The mayor would be very upset. He paid 10 million dollars for it."
「いい場所を知ってるよ」ジョナサンが言いました。そして年いった男の耳にささやきました。そうすると、ジョナサンはその場を離れました、しかしその年いった男は彼に向った叫びました「コンピューターが壊れていると誰にも言わないでね！市長は凄く怒るだろうから。市長は1000万ドルもお金を支払ったんだよ！」
Jonathan went home and said "there will be no more subways here." and he was right.
ジョナサンは家に帰って言いました「もう地下鉄はここには来ないよ」そして彼の言った事はその通りでした。
